Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea)

Taken few days ago, believe this female is on her clutch now. Bird gorged on mulberries, very comfortable sharing company. Back to first love of shooting film, cleaning up the digital stuff. No more prothos until couple rolls are processed and scanned.

Nice work Bill. One elusive bird here in Wis. Any hints on how to find this Prothonotary?

Hi Oppie, Thank you. Prothos tend towards marshy areas. Area worked in south of Appleton,Wis. were suitable. Was there during off season, didnt see but a couple friends that live up there said birds were in area during breeding season. Best success here is in sloughs off of main channel of mississippi river. Habitually look for mulberry trees right on shore and often overhang water. Berries draw insects, prothos, a plethora of other birds too. Willow trees also seem to draw alot of insect life that prothos favor. If you can find willow and mulberry trees side by side, adjacent to water, "golden swamp warblers" be right along shortly. Make yourself comfortable and have a blast.

Regards,
Bill

Thanks to everyone for looking. Anticipating hatch, hopefully a couple months or so will be able to catch fledges scampering about before they leave.
