wooded hillsides sloping down 2-3 miles to the Missouri River
Location
Kansas City, Kansas
Date taken
August 4, 2006
Scientific name
Carpodacus purpurcus

Though colorful, this is not a Purple Finch. The small head, long tail, brown back, and distinct brown breast streaking all point to House Finch. The other photo titled Purple Finch? is also of a House Finch.
