Red Powder Puff
Red Powder Puff (Calliandra haematocephala: Fabaceae). Shrub 1-7 m (3.3-23.0 ft) tall, Inflorescence ca. 5 cm (2.0 in) in diameter.
Habitat
Along the margin’s of Río Guayabo. Tropical premontane broadleaf forest (cloud forest/rain forest) at 626 m (2,054 ft) elevation; situated in a caldera of an extinct volcano. Grounds planted to attract birds and butterflies (Lantana, Porterweed, Firebush, etc.).
