Red-shouldered Hawk

I saw this guy sitting on the wire. He was at a spot in town known has "Bird Watchers Hill". LOL It's called this because people gather here to watch the airplanes take off & land at LAX.

I was on my way to meet the Audubon Society for a birdwalk. I quickly pulled over and took some pictures.

This hawk was very indulgent of me and allowed me to get a good number of photos before flying off.

An absolutely amazing close-up encounter with a magnificent bird.
