Temminck's and Long-toed Stint (Calidris temminckii and subminuta)

I watched this pair a couple of weeks ago. Temminck's is quite a rarity here so I was pleased to see it.. The Long-toed is a first winter, as can be seen from the pale edged coverts.

As mentioned elsewhere Dave - simply superb painting - the birds are brilliantly observed and, subsequently rendered, yet retaining all the jizz and character of the field observation - very top quality! The design is tremendous - the activity of the waders shown in the slight change in posture from one to the next - it keeps the viewers' eyes moving across the painting, creating extra movement to the piece. Very envious of this work!
 
Absolutely great birds Dave, they're so lively they look as if they're going to walk out of the frame.
