Sooty Falcon (Falco concolor)

Have just returned from a few days down on the Hawar Islands - more famous for being the featured site for the Socotra Cormorants sequence shown in the Planet Earth series; Sooty Falcons are one of the islands many other ornithological treasures. A summer breeding migrant most of the time the birds seen were just too far away but this one surprised me with a close pass. this was taken just after 6 this morning
