High summer hobby - Painting (Falco subbuteo)

A study of one of my favourite little falcons; The Hobby. I was watching one of these guys a couple of weeks ago as he was sitting quietly digesting a meal. He was surrounded by hundreds of meadow brown butterflies, it was a beautiful image and it inspired this little painting.
Habitat
open, coastal marsh
Location
Elmley, Kent UK
Date taken
painted summer 2009
Scientific name
Falco subbuteo
Equipment used
acrylics
This has everything in right place, Woody! Stunning quality and composition. Goes to my favs. Thanks. :loveme:

Beautiful art work Woody you have captured the mood of a lovely calm summers day love the detail on this great bird

Wonderful work Mike - the placement of the browns may look random, but I know just how much design has gone into this aspect of the work and they enhance the feeling, as Martin says, of a tranquil summer's day. Superb portraiture.

Oh Woody...this is stunning :clap::clap::clap::clap:
