Yellow-crowned Night Heron Juvenile (Nycticorax violacia)

note: photos posted in appreciation of the fine people who run Bird Forum and the wonderful members!
One more thing-it is possible this is a black-crowned juvenile. I have been guilty of mis-identification of juvenile night-herons before.

Hi William,
Sorry to say, but, I believe this photo is an excellent capture of a juvenile Black-crowned Night heron in flight. My thinking is that the body is too compact to be a juv Yellow-crowned and the feet, I think, are a bit too yellow.
 
Hi Maryson. You are correct sir! I am a bit better at ID since I took the picture, and the most obvious difference is the bill (beside the postion of tail/trailing legs). Good catch. regards~Bill
