Protective Parent (Burhinus magnirostris)

Driving along a dirt track near a lagoon where I had been birding, I noticed a pair of Bush Stone-curlews (or Thick-knee). As I got close I stopped the car and got out to take photos. Typically these guys freeze when they feel threatened, but one of them came right up to me, spread his wings out, raised his tail and growled. The closer I got to him the more intimidating he tried to be. I had to move back so as not to upset him anymore, and also because he was too close to focus on him.
