Golden-browed Chlorophonia
While unsuccessfully searching for Three-wattled Bellbird and Lovely Cotinga in the Varablanca area, we came across a pair of gorgeous Chlorophonias that were building a nest. Although they are fairly common in the right habitat, I could watch these beautiful birds all day long.
Habitat
Cloud forest edge
Location
between Poas and Varablanca, Costa Rica
Date taken
April 2, 2010
Scientific name
Chlorophonia callophrys
Equipment used
Nikon Coolpix 4800 with Swarovski 65 mm scope
This little bird was one of the highlights of our trip. We found him in dark forest, and he seemed to light up the entire forest. Congratulations on a capture, which I did not manage.

Thanks- yes, these are tough to get good pictures of. I often hear them calling from the canopy but rarelt get to see them very well and when I do, they are often obscured by mist.
