Red-breasted Sapsucker sunbathing (Sphyrapicus ruber)

Male Red-breasted Sapsucker, southern variety. This guy was sunbathing in a Jeffrey pine after bathing in a stream in the greenbelt below.

Wonderful shot of this beauty, like the way you are getting that "over the shoulder look".
 
Thanks very much, all of you! I'll post a "P.S." shot of him in full-preen about 10 minutes after I took this one where his feathers are totally askew and he's looking directly into the camera with an obvious 'tude. LOL!
 
What, the bird or the image? LOL! Actually, I may re-upload this photo from the original TIF file because it doesn't look sharp to me now and the TIF is tack sharp. I'll see what I can do to bump up the image size and still stay within BF's size parameters. I may have not paid enuf attention to the compression of JPG when saving it from the TIF before uploading.
