White-whiskered Puffbird (Malacoptila panamensis)

A true sit and wait strategist, this bird sat in front of us for at least 15 minutes. Nice to see it in the Sarapiqui area as it has become uncommon at La Selva (like many ground nesting birds). We had this one near Chilamate.

An excellent capture and picture in this foliage and dim light. Outstanding focus, color, soft light, detail, and eye contact. Three great posts of three great birds!!!
