Bittern

We've been fortunate to have a number of Bitterns locally. We had 3 at this particular location last Saturday! A bit of a distant shot (oh, ok, a very distant shot ;)!), about 150-200 metres away, but still happy to get any kind of record of these birds.

I think it's just lovely Hobbes, a gorgeoous setting and the sun is on the subject perfectly- I'd be happy just to see one!!! :t::t::t:
 
At that distance you did very well capturing the bird and elements....good one Hobbes.
 
Always good birds to see Hobbsy, its about as close as I usually see em, well done you.
 
The cold weather appears to be bringing these normally secretive birds out into the open. A superb capture of a strutting Bittern. Nice one Hobbes.
