Where's dem Oysters? (Haematopus ostralegus)

One of a pair of Oystercatchers feeding in the sunshine at Lake Lothing, Lowestoft on Saturday. Shortly after taking this shot I noticed a young couple in nearby parked car indulging in their own 'spectacular courtship display', so I put away my camera and beat a hasty retreat before I got thumped. You can't be too careful when you start waving a long lens about these days! Ron

It's a cracking shot Ron, a lovely setting, well - that is, the one that the bird is enjoying. Sorry you had to run off so quickly, you never know they might have been putting on a show for you - the other couple I mean!!

You couldn't have even said you were just taking photos of "birds", could you Ron...lol.

Glad you god this wonderful pic of this carrot-beak before your retreat. TFS mate.

A great capture Ron, love the setting here. And by the way, I know the feeling, I felt that same thing when walking down the beach with my kit among the thinly clad bathers. ;)

A beautifully-captured image of an oystercatcher. I like the setting very much, it's not just habitat, it tells us what the bird is doing there.I like this superb image very much. It's a shame you felt you had to give up on your oystercatchers because of a courting couple in a car.
