East African Grey Crowned Crane

East African Grey Crowned Crane (Balearica regulorum gibbericeps)

We were rather hastily moved on by a bull elephant fleeing from a fight but around the next corner on an area of swamp next to the track was this Grey Crowned Crane. The bird was very relaxed and allowed us to approach close enough for some headshots. I don't suppose I'll ever get this close to a wild crane again!
