Sao Miguel Goldcrest
The Sao Miguel Goldcrest is endemic to Sao Miguel, Azores and is the subspecies azoricus. They seem very unintrested in humans, but just as fast moving as the nominate as they hunt. I saw at least a dozen away from trees in the low bush from the lookout above L. do Fogo and this one in the Parque Terra Nostra in Furnas.

Thanks Tony and Delia. I had to back up because I was too close to the bird for the lens I was using when it popped up next to me, totally unphased by my presence.

What a wonderfully detailed close up study of this lovely bird.
