Water rail, first one I've seen on my local patch. I'd like to say I found it but someone in the hide drew my attention to the bird. So nice to see one out in the open though.

I hear them at our local reserve, but very rarely get a sighting.

THanx folks, as you all say they are secretive things at the best of times. This was the only picture I managed to get so am doubly chuffed with it
