Woody and Coconut (Melanerpes chrysogenys)

This is something I've never seen before. This opened coconut was up very high in a palm taller than the light posts. As a San Blas Jay was drinking and eating, the Golden-cheeked Woodpecker drove him off and had a drink himself. I'm not sure who opened the coconut, but it was a popular stopping place. After the Woody finished, five San Blas Jays flew in.

Not an easy one to capture Sue but you have taken this shot very well. Great photo and information on the event.
