MATING !!! Peregrine Falcons
I was out taking some photos (hopefully of raptors), and in a lull was photographing some little geewhizzits close by in the canopy behind me. As is always the way, the action was in the other direction - I can't precisely recall what alerted me, whether it was other birds, the whoosh of high speed wings, or that kak-kak-kak call and sixth sense of commotion. Anyway, I turned around, and there about ~200m away was Mr Peregrine starting to jump the bones of a very cooperative Mrs Peregrine !!! OMG! I just fired off hand held with whatever settings I had. Flap Flap Flap ... Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am --- it was all over in about 8 to 10 seconds. I was firing away at 600mm and 1.3x in-camera crop with my APS-C camera at about 6fps at something my short sightedness could barely see and trembling so much it was hard to stay on target. This is pretty much the best of them showing good wing (and other! :) position to exhibit the behaviour. Sorry about the poor iq as this is a further crop of the shot taken. Very very grateful to witness this. So privileged :))

What an amazing experience you had Chosun!!!!

A great record too of the union. Good luck to them and their forthcoming youngsters!!

Thanks lass.

Thanks Delia, Chris :t: ..... this has inspired me to dream of much better gear to get something better than a record shot (no matter how rare), since it is impossible to get closer .... not that I'd want to - they deserve some privacy after all, haha ;)

Interesting narrative and a well captured behaviour shot.

Thanks Kits :cat: , it was very serendipitous - 10 seconds in a lifetime - super lucky and blessed to see that o:D
It was just as well he did a good job - you wouldn't want to upset a big girl like that! hahaha :loveme: The size of her feet and head in comparison to his is unbelievable!!
