House Sparrow (Passer domesticus)

Celebrating World Sparrow Day!

I didn't realise it was WSD until I saw Pratim's wonderful painting this morning (http://www.birdforum.net/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/578357/cat/all) - so a quick change of upload plan for me to find a House Sparrow picture in my folders.

I didn't see too many in the early weeks of the year (or the weather was too wet and dark to take pictures!!). However it looks like the guy on the right is thinking of nest building judging by the fluff in his mouth!

Sorry the focusing is a bit off, it was taken sideways through the double-glazing of my other window, it was the best of the set though.

This is a beautifully lit and colourfully taken capture for WSD Delia. A brilliant action shot MF, well done.

Not a bad result sideways through double glazing Delia! Pretty difficult to get a recognisable image in those circumstances. Yes, it does look like nest material being collected, which always gives a picture added interest. I didn't know World Sparrow Day existed... will go and find out more about that now.

edit: WSD has its own Wiki page, well worth a look.

Actually a very nice composition in my opinion Delia with the grass adding some lovely bright shades! Especially well done through double glazing! The first I had heard of World Sparrow Day was Pratim's post too!
