Grouse lek on the Swedish - Norwegian border (Tetrao tetrix)

This Black Grouse lek was right on the border between Sweden and Norway. Some birds were displaying themselves right on the highway. Also, it was late, about 9:30 am. This was very unusual to me, never seen anything like it.

Gosh! Snow lies late up there, doesn't it PVA!!!

How wonderful to come across Blackcock like that. They're wonderful to watch at a lek. Did you happen to hear their pretty bubbling call too. LOL though they found a nice open space for their display, it's not the safest of spots, is it!!!

What a great picture you've taken of this guy - very well done.

It's great to see you posting again.

Thank you. Yes, there was a lot of bubbling too. I saw other grouses on the roads, this part of Sweden is pretty empty, the traffic is very light, very few cars.
