Closest shot I got of one, checking his/her surroundings in late evening sun before feeding and resting for the return flight. Most that I saw - thousands per day - were flying overhead. Flying northwards, which may seem counterintuitive, but migrants on Cape May have been blown off course. When they get to the tip of the cape, they realize they're facing a long stretch of water, most take a break for the night, then turn around and work their way north to the mainland before turning west and south again trying to keep land beneath them.
