Crested Duck (male)
Crested Duck (Lophonetta specularioides subsp. alticola) chasing a Yellow-billed Teal (Anas flavirostris subsp. oxyptera). This male was chasing every Yellow-billed Teal it could see. Mom had ducklings, although the Yellow-billed Teal never paid them any attention, pops was showing mom what a good protector he was. Northeast of Yungay, Ancash, Per. Cordillera Blancas, Lagunas Llanganuco at 3,660 m (12,008 ft) elevation.

He's got a pretty speculum, hasn't he.

Superb action shot, but that drake needs to pace himself. At that rate, he'll be worn out when an actual raptor shows up :eek!:
