... and sour they are." But for the Starlings they were quite tasty. My husband also harvests rowans most years, using a long pruning hook to get at them. He cooks them up with apples from our garden to make jelly. The trick is to harvest them after a frost, or else put them in the freezer before cooking them. Frost turns some of the starches into sugars. They're still far from sweet, but a tart jelly makes a good condiment with meats.

.... indeed it does Ann, and a nice wine too, using the rowan and apple jelly/jam. Used to make that many years ago.

Another lovely Starling image with the sour berries - very well done lass.
