Silver-washed fritillary

Thank you for the lovely comments on yesterday's little egret.

Today, a female silver-washed fritillary which flew into my study last week. I managed to grab a couple of shots before guiding her back out of the open window. How is it butterflies/flies/bees/wasps manage to fly in through an open window with ease, but can rarely find their way back out again?
