Those bars you see on the white tail feathers along with this small beak are good signs to distinguish this bird from the larger look alike, Hairy Woodpecker. I think this may be an immature male.

I believe that it is a young downy. Lovely picture and closeup of this sweet bird Teto. We have a wren bird house, sometimes they will use it. This year they build their nest on top of their bird house, which sets in the corner at the backside of our log cabin.--The chickadees are using one of our bluebird houses. We don't know where the bluebirds are nesting now.--Have a nice weekend
