From the thumbnail, I thought this was a Goshawk; but the spindly legs are a dead give-away. Excellent pose and a great-looking Raptor, very well done. (From the eye colour, it looks like a fairly old female; just a guess though)

Thanks Chris, I thought that because of the orange eye; I'm sure someone will confirm.

I keep looking at this, Colin, as it really does look like a Goshawk from the thumbnail|=)| I'm actually not 100% sure that it isn't a small male Goshawk. Eye colour alone would rule out a juvenile Sparrowhawk, but females don't usually have a darker eye until they're older (AFAIK) Male Sparrowhawks have a darker eye, even some younger males. So on plumage and eye colour it has to be an adult female, but she's quite broad across the breast; I suppose it might just be the pose. Whatever it is, it's a great-looking bird.

I sure wish it was a Gos (a first for me) but the legs say it must be a sprawk. re your comment on the other photo it had just taken out a collared dove.

Funny place the gallery; brilliant pose and bird, yet hardly any comments. Oh well, this is one more|=)|

Thanks all,
there isn't many times when you see a beautiful bird like this and you manage to capture it and do her justice, so Chris no worries, glad you enjoyed the photo.
