Temminck's Courser
Location
Masai Mara, Kenya
Date taken
November 12, 2006
Scientific name
Cursorius temminckii
Marien,
I reviewed this one and changed the ID for several reasons. Cursorius somalensis does not range in Masai Mara NP that I know of. Referring to HBW, and to Stevenson & Fanshawe, C. somalensis has a black bill base, a sandy colored forehead and greyish hind-nape. It also does not have this blackish smudge at belly center.
