Hi Bibi,

Sorry to be so late in getting back to you. I didn't have this photo connected to my messages, so I didn't know you wrote. I was just in here tonight to look at something and noticed a few of my photos had more comments on them than when the were posted. I never dreamed anyone would comment on them later. I only have a small cannon powershot 2.0 megapixel camera so I have to be standing next the bird to get a shot. Obviously, I don't get many! Unfortunately, in my shot, the head is turned so it looks as if the throat is white, but it's really just the cheek. This bird looks very similar to the New Holland, but they are two different birds. The N.H. has a light colored iris, an eyebrow that starts about mid-eye, a smaller white patch by the ear, and a bit of white near the gape.
The White-cheeked has an eyebrow that starts at the bill and goes back, and the white pach on the cheek is bigger the the ear patch on N.H.
I saw W-C's on Fraser Island, and once in Paluma. The honey eaters were a real challenge. They can be so fast, and so similar.
I was fortunate enough to spend 20 or 22? months in Australia.I can't tell you how much I miss it. If BF were the proper forum, I'd send you, "Australia is for the Birds" It is a little article I wrote while I was there and gives an idea of how much I enjoyed your country. Oh, well, I'd have to get it from the editor or my Dad anyway, as the computer I wrote it on died.
I love your photos, if you get any of wild budgies, I would LOVE to see them. My budgie adventures are another story. I'm lucky (?) I'm still married.
