Yellow-Tailed Black-Cockatoo (Calyptorhynchus funereus)

With smoke still thick in the air from recent Victorian bush fires a flock of 9 cockatoos arrived in my garden. A reminder of why we live on a block surrounded by trees in one of the worlds most bushfire threatened regions.

I couldn't imagine living in a place where you get to call THESE your yard birds! Beautiful.

On one occasion I stood on our back decking and there were 8 species of parrot in view at the same time. Yellow-tailed Black, Gang-Gang & Sulphur-crested Cockatoos. Galas, Rainbow and Musk Lorikeet, Kink Parrot & Crimson Rosella. It has only happened once in 26 years however each of these species continue to visit either all year round or seasonally. I've recorded over 60 species on or over our block.

o:) A beautiful pic of these couple of stunners, Stephen!!! :t: :t: :t:

Great to see you around, safe and sound after the terrible disaster!!! Hope at least all your dear people is OK!!!
