You Put the Bird in the Coconut (Cyanocorax sanblasianus)

This is something I've never seen before. This opened coconut was up very high in a palm taller than the light posts. As the Jay was drinking and eating, a Golden-cheeked Woodpecker drove him off and had a drink himself. I'm not sure who opened the coconut, but it was a popular stopping place. After the Woody finished, five San Blas Jays flew in.

What a great tale you have to tell Sue.... that must have been so interesting to watch the battle for the coconut LOL.

You've a great picture of this scarce visitor to the Gallery too - only the 5th image to come in and the first for 5 years too!!
