Swans slaughtered to be eaten by Immegrants (1 Viewer)

If people want to come to this country they should be prepared to abide by our laws not their own Countries. If they are not prepared to abide by our laws then let them not come to the UK .

Is this somehow related to this thread?

Since the Mail Online chooses to place a nice photograph of a Lithuanian woman with the caption 'living off the land', then I presume your quote suggests she should be abiding by the law of Lithuania, yes?

If so, please indicate where the law in Lithuania permits the killing and eating of swans?. It does not. If someone in this country was caught killing and consuming a swan, they would be prosecuted. No difference in the laws, or customs, of the two countries in this respect.

PS. British persons keep getting caught pissing against the President's palace here - are UK persons not educated in the use of toilets? What heathens the citizens of the United Kingdom must be!

There have also been issues of numbers immigrants being found using peoples shed in their back gardens. To me that is scary. :eek!:

not half as scary as the conditions these people would have been living in in their home country

Another variation of the same article from March this year.

In my area of Bedford there was a spate of Fish being taken from Bedford Park lake a while ago, and the mystery was solved eventually. It is proof of the event and the person caught that is needed and that is not the easiest thing to do or achieve.

Even if people born and breed in the UK where starving, we would not resort to eating our wildlife that I know of - would we!

And what is really so bad about that. Are you really going to complain if a few hungry people nab a few fish from your park, or shoot a few Deer or Rabbit, so they can survive. In the big scale this is absolutely nothing compared to urbanisation, eco-energy etc destroying animals habitats. I'd rather a few impoverished people could get a meal from your park than anglers taking over reservoirs, catching all the fish, shooting herons, cormorants, goosanders etc., and breeding trout so that they are so numerous that they eat everything else in ther reservoir and ruining a fantastic habitat. If you haven't noticed, the countries these people have originated from were almost certainly far better for wildlife than our own, as they live with wildlife, and because wild animals are their main source f food they would much rather they were healthily abundant.

otherwise they are protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981 and all Mute swans are the property of the crown and have been since 1482.

If people want to come to this country they should be prepared to abide by our laws not their own Countries. If they are not prepared to abide by our laws then let them not come to the UK .

Personally I'd put them in the Tower and then hang draw and quarter them :t:

Er, no. Unmarked swans on the River Thames belong to the Crown.

There are two City of London Livery Companies (the Dyers and the Vintners) that own swans, also on the Thames, which they mark in the ceremony known as 'swan upping'. As, no doubt, a patriotic Brit, you will have heard of it.

As for the rest of your post perhaps it's best to say it is just as well informed...

as a quick final note, I hopped over the channel this winter, and even around Dunquerque you'd be amazed at how wildfowl proliferate on all the gravel pits. There, wildfowlers are allowed to shoot anything they want pretty much, and the birds still do fine, because the shooters are, understandably, keen to attract as many ducks as possible. Grey Partridge, along with lots of other farmland birds (Tree Sparrow, Whitethroat etc.) do much better on shooting farms, because without consumist demand for as many crops as possible, the farmers can actually leave a bit of set-aside nd long grass in their fields, and then the Partridges are rather happy. I can only guess it is the same situation in Ireland, which also has a fair number of wildfowlers, but cancels it out with vast, quiet undisturbed wetlands. You want to see disgraceful behaviour, and people who would kill a swan for fun!

I’m a little curious as to why the OP felt it necessary to put the word “immigrant” in the title of her post. It seems to me a simple “English swans slaughtered for food” would have worked just as well.

I agree, interesting. Presumably for attention or to make the thread more dramatic and controversial (well done, you have fantastically succeeded!

Here's how the Daily Fail comes up with the goods:

http://www.qwghlm.co.uk/toys/dailymail/

brilliant website, the creator of it was quite simply a genius! Mid you, I alreayd had a feeling the mail talks about nothing but obseity, homosexuality, immigration, Diana, the Middle-Class and AIDS!

Will Hoodies Give Britain's Swans Cancer?
COULD IMMIGRANTS RIP OFF BRITAIN'S FARMERS?
COULD NEW LABOUR RIP OFF THE MEMORY OF DIANA?
WILL THE MMR JAB MAKE THE COUNTRYSIDE OBESE?
HAVE THE POLES GIVEN THE CHURCH Cancer?
HAS YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL INFECTED HARD-WORKING FAMILIES WITH AIDS?
WILL YOUR LOCAL COUNCIL BURGLE THE ROYAL FAMILY?

a few choice selections from mister colonel boris's website (I assume you are Boris Johnson?);)

presumably because it was immigrants that killed and ate the swans ? just a stab in the dark ;)

does it matter that it was immigrants who killed the swans? were it Diana who had eaten them some of these people would be making much less fuss!

Damn I just realised she was allowed to eat them!

Okay, try it again!

Were it Nelson mandela eating the swans, some people would be making much less fuss!

Damn he's foreign so that won't work against the Mail!

third time lucky!

If Winston Churchill had eaten some swans, people would be making a lot less fuss!!

Now I have finally expressed my point!

And would you apply the same punishment to English yobs who shoot wildlife, of whatever class? If not, your comments are simply racist - if so, perhaps you are just a bit extreme.

my remark was clearly not rascist (no race was even mentioned)and I do not see the need to either defend my comment (which was obviously toungue-in-cheek) or justify it .
Every citizen of the UK is subject to its laws and should be prosecuted and punished in accordance with them.

Immigrants whether illegal or not should also be subject to the same UK laws imo.

We are all lovers of birds and wildlife generally on here and I'm sure that were there any ntruth to the stories then everyone here would find the act abhorrent

Why? What's the difference between eating a Swan (Law notwithstanding), and eating a Chicken?

(Yes, you guessed right, I'm Vegetarian|=)|)

Law notwithstanding then yes there's no difference but the point is one is legal the other isnt therefore there's a world of difference.

wow this is getting good isn't it! Fascinating reading. This really has gone away from the remit of Birdforum, the original issue was swans, and now we've stumbled far from that. The immigrant issue is really not relevant or appropriate, even Daily Mail readers have a sufficient IQ (I assume they can read, or at least hazard a guess from the pictures) to be able to understand that the law applies to all in the country, whether immigrant, on holiday or what.

Nick (an immigrant on benefits that doesn't eat swans)

If however the issue is proven (by people more capable than Mail journalists) to stem from a certian nationality, that information could be useful in explaining the problem to the perpetrators in their own language. But there really is no need whatsoever to start tarring everyone with the same brush or imagining that one person's behaviour represents the entire 'group.

Let's hope the French still welcome you all over here for your holidays regardless of what they may have learned about us Brits from me! We're not all drunken sluts with a dislike for clothing, are we?
