Twitching list:

Bins
Scope
Black Book and/or marked cards
Stun Gun
Mobile to phone for permission to tick
Psychiatric Medicine
Kevlar Body Armour
Facial Recognition Security Cameras

Or bins and scope and do my own thing.

Plus house brick for flushing. A top W.P. lister informs me it works well with warblers in bushes!!

That seven-year-old girl looked pretty happy and well-adjusted to me. But there are several contributors to this thread who should be taken into care immediately. Social services have been alerted.

Sean

As her mum pointed out, kids can signal boredom very effectively if they want. Any kid that age is going to get fed up whatever they're doing; most commentators are forgetting the moments when the lovely little girl (I forget her name just now) was running for birds, taking the lead and telling her parents to hurry up. An editing job as good as the Beebs!!

Reading this thread is better than seeing a comedy film.
I haven't laughed so much for ages.
There is an absolutely untapped wealth of comedy talent here in the UK.
There really should be an broadsheet article about the responses this documentary has unleashed!

"The ECW twitch was a Friday"

Does anyone actually know if Brett saw this the following day? on the film it suggested he missed it having jogged to site.....!

But I thought it wasnt seen again the following morning?

It left on the Sunday. I know this because I took a girl out to lunch instead of going for it after coming off Scilly. If I was a twitcher, would I have changed my plans? :)

It was found on Thurs 22.10. and it wasn't seen on the Sunday 25.10.

The best thing about this documentary was that my non-birding wife watched it with me and declared that my birding is 'sensible and in proportion'. Epic WIN!

The programme was ok. I have the most respect for Brett 'Sailor' Richards who is a solid and tireless patchworker and adds much to the ornithological database (message to any who think all twitchers are only interested in playing a numbers game and not interested in wildlife, nature conservation etc - you're incorrect).

The Craigs seemed like nice folks. I used to take my kids on the odd twitch when they were young but, personally, wouldn't have taken them on every trip when I once attempted a national year list. It can be hard going, even for adults.

For those, like me, who've known Lee for a long time, Lee 'The Sweeney' Evans was his usual self. A competent, helpful and knowledgeable birder who frequently makes outrageous and/or laughable outbursts and silly or inaccurate claims. He's a great self publicist and some would say, attention seeker but shouldn't be taken too seriously. He gives us all a laugh.

Garry 'Barry Gagwell' Bagnell is an amiable and affable chap and clearly a wannabe big lister. He kindly gave me a lift back from the Eastern Crowned Warbler but it was like sitting next to Lee. His opinions were those which I'd already heard from 'The Sweeney' himself. I informed him of my impression and suggested it would be better to formulate his own opinions and not rely on Lee's. He obviously hero worships Lee.

These guys are all part of the rich pageant that is Twitching and Birding. I personally like the diversity.

ps who's been dissing my excellent video of the ECW which was featured on the Prog ? :)
