    Larks, Masai Mara, Kenya

Thanks for this. Larks don't seem to excite subscribers to this forum, do they?

    Larks, Masai Mara, Kenya

I am thinking that the first lark is Rufous-naped, and the second could be Singing (Horsfield's) Bushlark. Can anyone confirm or put me right? Adrian

Can anyone help with this raptor, which we saw yesterday in Meru National Park? Our guide could not ID it. Thanks, Adrian

    Peru, September

Any thoughts on these three? #1 was at Urubamba, the other two at Aguas Calientes. #2 seems to be rather short-billed for most Antwrens/Antvireos etc. Thanks

    Cisticolas, Masai Mara, Kenya

Any thoughts on these two Cisticolas in the Masai Mara in July? I am thinking possibly Winding Cisticola for #1, and Stout for #2.

    Hawk, Lake Titicaca, Peru

Thanks for your comment. I agree that the wings look very broad, but I think tail length is OK. Here is a photo of sub-adult White-tailed Hawk from Cornell's Birds of the World: I think my bird will just have to go down as unidentified, though probably Variable Hawk - which is a lot more...

    Hawk, Lake Titicaca, Peru

Apologies for the poor quality of the image. I saw a lot of hawks in Peru which I took to be Variable Hawk, but this one has an unusual combination of dark belly and pale breast. It looks very like some images on the net of subadult White-tailed Hawk, but eBird doesn't seem to have any records...

    Flycatcher, Tangjiahe NNR, Sichuan, China

Maybe you are right, John. I thought I saw white in the tail as it flew, but perhaps I was mistaken. I would be very happy to be able to tick Zappey's!.

    Flycatcher, Tangjiahe NNR, Sichuan, China

Thanks, Grahame. I am still at Tangjiahe, with limited internet access, but I can't find any reference to whitish outer tail feathers in female Zappey's or Blue-and-white. HBW Alive says female Blue-and-white has *darker* outer tail feathers! I am stumped at the moment. Adrian

    Flycatcher, Tangjiahe NNR, Sichuan, China

Can anyone help ID this flycatcher which I saw yesterday in Tangjiahe National Nature Teserve, Sichuan, China? This is the only shot that I have got. The bird spent almost all the time with its back to me, so I got only a glimpse of its underparts, which seemed to be creamy. I am hoping that...

    Goose, Tetney Marshes

Thanks for your comments. Thanks also to Pyrtle and Joern. I didn't see the bird, so I don't know whether the dark feathers are as black as they seem. However, you have solved my problem. My daughter expects me to be able to identify any bird she photographs, and you have confirmed my thought...
