    Rare, white Penguin

    Not that rare, there have been many over the years in the Falkland Islands. Mainly Gentoo Penguins but also Southern Rockhopper Penguin. Some birds returned to the same colonies for many years. The Rocky pictured below returned to a colony on Pebble Island for at least 11 years. Cheers Alan

    I suspect it is a Southern Royal. The amount of white on the upper parts is not a problem in really old birds as in the one attached. Bill is a bit strange but suspect because of the quality of the picture you can't see the black cutting edge to the whole bill just towards the end. Cheers...

    Certainly a White Chinned, a breeding species in the Falkland Islands.
