    Emporda reserve in NE Spain

There's a new website (since last posts in the thread) devoted to bird sightings in the region: http://www.birdingemporda.com It lists interesting (for the region) bird sightings, so it doesn't include sightings of common birds. Cheers, Aleix

Thank you very much. I found the swedish language version, which being a germanic language is a little more understandable. An English version would be really appreciated, as they have in Sweden or Norway. I have registerd and browsed, but unfortunately the webpage doesn't let you zoom unless...

    Red-Billed Leoithrix in Barcelona

One easy spot is taking the train to Baixador de Vallvidrera stop. Leiothrix can be heard from the stop itself, and a short stroll uphill will definitively yield the species. It is 16 minutes by train from Plaça Catalunya...

    Vinaceous Dove? Fuerteventura update

I forwarded it to local birders and they say that it is not a Vinaceous Dove (it has clearly a white bordered narrow collar, whereas Vinaceous should have a much broader collar without a white border). In the area there are introduced African Collared Doves and Eurasian Collared Doves and...

    Menorca shearwater species

Certainly Scopoli's and Balearic Shearwaters. But beware for the Menorcan breeding Balearic Shearwaters are a bit special, the so called "Menorcan" Shearwater, wich are Balearic Shearwaters according to DNA but really look like Yelkouan Shearwaters for they have some genetic Yelkouan...

    Red-billed Leiothrix, Barcelona

A very easy option is to take the Ferrrocarils de la Generalitat de Catalunya from Plaça Catalunya any of lines S1, S5, S55 and stop at Baixador Vallvidrera. You should hear them from the station just as you descend the train. Walk a little uphill and they are everywhere.
