Uk Bird ID - Help please

Hi, I started out on the Littlehampton beach and saw a number of Oystercatchers and some Little Egrets but they wouldn't let me get close enough. Switched over to the West beach and despite some dog walkers spooking them I was able to get within 25' of these. I will try again some time...

Uk Bird ID - Help please

Taken today on Littlehampton beach in West Sussex. I am no birder so I have trawled through my one and only book and my best guess is a Dunlin. Anyone able to confirm or offer an alternative? Thanks in advance. Alex

I think I have found my ID, Araneus angulatus. Pictures on the web look the same as mine so I am confident. Looks to be quite rare for Sussex. Cheers Alex

Found in a local nature reserve in the SE of England. Nothing I have ever seen before so I was hoping for some assistance for an arachnid expert. Thanks in advance Alex

    gigrin farm

I did that last year and it was a great experience. Like someone else said they go so quick that it's better to be a bit shorter than longer. There was also a lot in the sky so singling one out was not easy. Have fun Alex

    Garden Warbler in February?

I have just seen a small pale bird in my garden that I have never seen before. It was approximately the size of a blue tit, pale beige in colour, even paler on the breast. Looking through the books I have an don the web I can only find images that lead me to it being a Garden Warbler. Is it...

Help Setting Up A Feeding Station

Good points well made. As the location is a distance away from me I don't think I would be able to get to it regularly enough. I'll have to have a rethink. Cheers Alex

Help Setting Up A Feeding Station

Hi All, Not sure if this is the right forum for this but I could use some advice about setting up a feeding station. We live in a urban area and the only place that the birds come to is the feeders at the front of the house. The back garden is in competition with a few other gards and we seem...

    Bag Hides?

Thanks Den, just the sort of info I was after. I will let the order run and see how I get on with the bag hide before spending much more. I ordered the heavier one as the lighter one did not come in the Advantage Timber pattern that you mentioned and I preferred that pattern. I might try and...

    Bag Hides?

Are they any good or should I be looking at getting a pop-up hide instead? Some people rate them, others I have read have said they are not good as every move you make is visible. I have ordered one from WildlifeWatchingSupplies.co.uk but could cancel in favour of something else. Looking to...

    False Widow Spiders (UK)

Folks, Does anyone know if I should report the sighting of False Widow spiders to any particular organisation? I don't know if it's of significant interest or not but we have a number of them in and round our house. I know they are not really dangerous but as a non native spider I wondered if...
