    Thoughts on the SLC WB?

Yes, they issued new serial number, and it is etched on the underside of the hinge. I think they are as close to NIB 'neu' as can be found (not that they are for sale or anything :)

Swarovski EL 10x32 SV tripod adapter?

I made these quite a number of years ago - still using the one I made for myself. Sold a couple back them as I recall. http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=231916

    Thoughts on the SLC WB?

Since the title is 'SLC WB', let me ask this - how different is the design of the SLC WB 8x30? I've had these since the late 80's, sent them back a few years ago for slight dust problem. Among other things Swaro replaced all glass (including prism blocks) with ones with the latest coatings. I...

    Identify WW2 Binos

They are a dead ringer for the Type 93, but I don't remember seeing any reticle. I'll have access to them hopefully tomorrow and have more info on their history (maybe).

    Identify WW2 Binos

I'll have to take a closer look at them when I see him again. I'll measure objective & ocular, but they may have been as large as 36. I can say just with a quick look through them the view surprised me with its quality despite some glass scratching and no apparent coating. Maybe clean them a...

    Identify WW2 Binos

A friend of mine's grandfather died recently, and he got a couple items from family. One is this, apparently brought back from Japan confiscated from a prisoner. There are no markings on them, but appear quite high quality and still function nicely. Glass is scratched but very nice view...

    SV 8x32 low light performance.

With the talk about an easier view with large exit pupils, I always enjoy comparing my 10x32 SV's with large exit pupil glasses - I don't seem to miss much at all in brightness or ease of view, and appreciate the extra magnification a great deal. John F

    Swarovski Focusers: facts at last.

I posted this in another thread, but is probably better suited in this one. A common complaint (at least with the EL Swaros) is that it is requires more oomph to turn in one direction than the other. On my 10x32 SV Swaro that is the case, but is barely detectable if looking for it, not...

    8.5x42 Swarovsiosn Focus Problem

My 10x32 SV Swaro is perfectly smooth at all times, but slightly heavier in the CCW direction, which has absolutely no effect on use. If I close my eyes and hold glasses waist high, I can detect it. I wrapped 4 windings of cotton thread around the focus knob, tied the thread to my digital...

Swarovski 8x25 CL-P best compact binocular?

Now that I've sold my 550xxx Nikon 8x32 SE's, I no longer car about optical quality. From now on, 'mediocre' in fine with me. This includes my Swaro 10x32 SV's, the Canon 10x36 II stabilized, the totally rebuilt and modernized Swaro 8x30 SLC WB's, and the Nikon 8x20 Premiers. I do miss the...

    10x25 or 10x32?

When in the market for an 'alpha' that fit my desires, I chose the Swaro 10x32 SV. OK, not what you might call a compact, or not inexpensive, but pretty darn 'carry-able'. And, you'll never have to apologize to your eyes about the optic quality of the glasses. I'd recommend a 'medium size'...

New Canon 12x36 is lll & 10x30 is ll

Just my luck - bought the 12x36 II in April from Amazon. They show the new 12x36 III's but say 'not yet released'. Also, the price shown is $849 instead of the $589 I paid. The II's are now down to $566. I suspect the III's, when available, will drop down to $600 on Amazon. Of course, I'm a...

Canon 12x36 II IS - expecting tomorrow

OK, the more I use these, the more fantastic they seem to look and work. There is some flare in bright light and a good amount of CA in high contrast areas. Other than that, I'm really surprised at how good the optics are on the 12x36 II's. I can see detail at least 2x, maybe 3x beyond my...

Canon 12x36 II IS - expecting tomorrow

Quick impressions - 12x36 II IS Have had them a few days now and used them during desert sun and night time (albeit full moon). What I don't like: - they look awkward somehow. Funky IPD design contributes to this strange look. Sort of like they are futuristic and old fashion at the same...
