    Spotting Scope Suggestions

'Hej' Hav ;) I ended up going for a used Zeiss Victory Diascope T*FL 85mm 20-75x. I'm super pleased with the results and it has held up well after being exposed to a lot of rain. I'm super pleased with it and I can see myself using it for many more years to come. Best regards, Ben

Thanks, for your feedback. Doing some more research, and am still unsure. The 75x mag is very attractive, but if a Swaro performs better at 60x than the Zeiss does, I would opt for the former. Also, I've read that there is some distortion due to the very wide FOV on the Zeiss and that the colour...

Now, I've come across a used newer version of the Zeiss Diascope 85 FL with a 20-75x. Should I consider this or should I just wait and save up for a Swaro? Eager to hear anyones thoughts. Thanks

    Looking for spotting scope advice

I had kind of concluded that I would just wait, and save up for a Swaro ATX or try find something like that used. Now, I’ve come across a Zeiss Diascope 85 T*FL with a 20-60x, a Zeiss Tripod and a 128RC head. The scope is from 2006, so rather old but I have heard that this used to be one of the...

    Looking for spotting scope advice

Yes, exactly! My local nature store is selling the scope with the case and ocular. I will of course test the scope many times, maybe do some artificial star tests and then buy the model that I tested. Honestly, the focusing and zoom mechanism doesn’t bother me too much, I think I will get to...

    Looking for spotting scope advice

Thanks all, for your feedback. I think I’ll save up for a Kowa 883, or try find an ATX or something of the likes used. They just seem like better investments, as a one time purchase, which the ATS doesn’t quite, I think. The possibilities of extenders are very attractive as I’m really getting...

    Looking for spotting scope advice

Hi all, I'm looking to buy a spotting scope and I've already made a post (Spotting Scope Suggestions) considering some options. However, now I have come across a used Swarovski ATS 80HD in mint condition, which comes with both the 20-60x and the 25-50x, an original Swaro SOC, as well as a...

So you prefer the 20-70x? Do you mind me asking why you own both eyepieces? Perhaps if the TV is minor, the 20-70x may be a better option. I'd assume there is no rolling ball effect on that eyepiece? Thanks

Thanks for that. I have borrowed my dads Swaro EL 42 quite a bit, I believe many have complained about rolling ball effect on those, but I find a very crisp and usable image when panning. So perhaps no issues there... I use contact lenses when birding, but in future may start to use glasses more...

    Spotting Scope Suggestions

I think my last questions would really be: Monarch 82 or Meostar 82? Both seem like brilliant scopes, at similar price points. I would likely go with the 30-60x for either scope. I've been doing some more reading, apparently there is a lot of distortion on the Meopta 30-60x at lower...

How do the Meopta eyepieces differ in sharpness? Think the WA will be more appropriate for me, considering the tunnel vision in the 20-70. Thanks

    Spotting Scope Suggestions

Thanks again. Did some research and found that there is an official Nikon Denmark website, the 30-60x and the scope would cost around 2600 USD. Seems reasonable? Just curious to know how it would compare with the Meopta, and the Kite for that matter. Also, is there any tunnel vision effect in...

    Spotting Scope Suggestions

Also, just wanted to ask you which eyepiece is best for the Monarch? Would I be right in saying the 30-60x? I think the shape of the Monarch looks a bit awkward, but it is of course the optics that really matter. Finally, wouldn't the Meopta perform better than the Monarch, and for a similar...

    Spotting Scope Suggestions

Yes, I completely agree, so crucial to be able to test a number of scopes. I had also heard many good things about the Monarch, again not sure where would be best to buy it online, and again may be problematic with tax etc. I also can't seem to find it in any local dealers in Denmark...

Thank you very much, very useful comments. Do you own the S2 yourself then? 70x magnification is also pretty crazy!
