    Kowa USA Sale

I'm always happy to help others spend their $$$. Now that the 88 has 2 threaded mounting holes it's tempting me to give it another go. Having picked up a 66A and new Gitzo in December, going on a 3 week tour around SA in Feb and ordering a new PC to deal with new photo noise reduction software...

    8x32 advice?

If you can afford up to $1,500 you should take a look at the 8x30 SFL. It's quite small and light. Some people (including me) have issues with eye placement. Alternatively I'd recommend the 8x40 SFL ($1,800) over the 8x32SF. They are about the same size and weight although with smaller tubes...

    Kowa USA Sale

TSN 88 body & eyepiece is $500 off TSN 55 is $400 off. 33mm and 44mm bins are discounted also. Also looks like they've now knocked $250 off the 66 price.

Upgrade 128 RC head or no?

If you're happy with how the 883 mounts to the 128RC I'd probably stick with it. Alternatively you could try the Gitzo GHF2W. It's a bit lighter than the 128RC, but a more expensive than the other heads and it can be difficult to find a plate with an anti-rotation pin. Also the pan and/or...

Gitzo Traveler series 2 for seabirds?

I've not used the S2-2545T combo. I purchased the 2545T for the 66A. Only had them for a month and haven't had a chance to get out and use it except for backyard birding. In the interest of furthering science perhaps I could give the combo go tomorrow. A nice donation via Paypal would serve...

Gitzo Traveler series 2 for seabirds?

I agree with CMB's response. Especially regarding sitting down and shortening the legs to deal with wind. Heavier legs and head help, but reducing leg extension is better. Recently purchased the 2545T and VA-5 for use with the Kowa 66A, but don't yet have much experience with that particular...

help with mounting plate & head for a circa 1993 85mm Swarovski

This doesn't solve your problem, but may help with part of it. B&H Photo sells all sorts of tripod plate screws and 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 reducer bushings. Here's a link for bushings: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=bushing&sts=ma

Arca-Swiss compatible quick release plate for Gitzo GHF2W

I have one that I'm not using that came with a GHF2W and would let it go for a nominal fee. However I'm in the US. PM me your postal code and I can check here with USPS to see what mailing cost would be.

New tripod and head for Kowa TSN-66A

I recently picked up the 66A and added a GT2545T and VA-5 to arrive at a lightweight, high quality 60x kit. I’m pretty happy with it so far. This 2 series Gitzo satisfies my needs. I’m considering trying out a GT1532 to reduce leg sections from 4 to 3. The VA-5 has been a bit of a pleasant...

Where's the Love- Kowa Genesis vs The Rest $1000 Bins

Yeah, the couple 99As I tried definitely fell off above 60x. On the other hand I've no hesitation about cranking the 66A I just received to 60x.
