    Canon 18X50 IS Binoculars

By spotting scope substitute I mean that if you are going on a long walk through a wetland or some other preserve and you don't want to lug a heavy scope and tripod around all morning, you can take the 18x50 instead. I will frequently wear an 8X or 10X bin around my neck and carry the 18x50 in...

    Canon 18X50 IS Binoculars

They make a great spotting scope substitute. Get a sling strap, like an Op/Tech Utility Sling strap or a Vortex Archer's Strap and wear them cross body with a lower power binocular around your neck. That way, you can just swing them up when you need to make a long range ID. They are also...

Has anyone tried Canon IS binoculars on a pelagic trip?

Can gimbal heads (such as ProMediaGear GK Jr.) be used effectively for bino, spotting, telescope and camera

I've tried a high quality gimbal head (Jobu Designs) that wasn't fluid damped and it did not work well with a spotting scope at all. The movements are too jerky. I then bought the Gitzo fluid gimbal and it works great. A popular cheap option is the Manfroto MVH502AH. It is only rated for 15...

    Sig Sauer Zulu9 MidwayUSA.Com Deals ?

I did a brief comparison of the Sig Sauer Zulu 9 9x45 and 11x45 against my Zeiss Conquest HD 10x56. I used a monopod and a Stoney Point Binocular Rest. When trying to read small print on a distant sign, the three were about equal. The Conquest HD was the brightest and has the nicest focusing...

    Sig Sauer Zulu9 MidwayUSA.Com Deals ?

The Brunton scope you sold me still works great! I haven't been using it much since I bought a Kowa TSN-883. I also bought a Doctor Optics Noblex 12.5mm eyepiece for it, which is pretty sweet. Over the holidays, the bargain hunter in me got the better of me and I bought the Nikon Monarch 82ED...

    Sig Sauer Zulu9 MidwayUSA.Com Deals ?

The box for the Zulu 9's says "Designed by Sig Sauer in Oregon" and "Assembled in Japan". The binoculars have "Made in Japan" on them. When they say "Designed by Sig Sauer" they may just mean the customization of Kamakura's design.

    Sig Sauer Zulu9 MidwayUSA.Com Deals ?

I bought the 9x45 based on reviews of the Maven B2. They've become a favorite. I've got big hands (XL gloves) so the big size is just right for me. I wrap my left hand around the objective at the far end and clamp my hat's bill under my fingers. There is PLENTY of room for my fingers...

I bought Nikon Monarch HG 10x42 binoculars and Monarch ED82 straight and ED60 angled scopes refurbished directly from Nikon. They all appear to be as new. I've had no problems. Here is the link to buy refurbished scopes directly from Nikon...
