Like you Steve I had to go to Eastern Europe (Hungary) to catch up with "WB Pecker" - see link to trip report. It's quite probable that "Lilfords" will be split from the nominate race in the future so keep the feedback about possible "Pyrenean" sightings and sites open... -

Are there any Golden eagles left at Haweswater?
The lone male bird was still showing well at Riggindale when I visited on 11th August 2010. Evidently there are no plans at at reintroduction to provide the lone bird with a mate. The RSPB view is that the eagles would recolonise by themselves, but what is preventing them is a lack of nesting... -

Can anyone tell me what the best conditions in terms of wind direction are for seawatching off of Berry Head, and where the best watchpoint is? I have a long weekend and was thinking of driving down later in the week - Friday looks good with some strong south-westerlies. Thanks in advance. -

Great Bustard to return to Britain
Great Bustards to return to Britain I live in Wiltshire and "bird the Plain" a bit. Sologne central France request for information
I am going on a family holiday in a couple of weeks to the Sologne in Central France. If anyone has any information on birds and butterflies of the area I would be obliged. From what little information I have gleaned the area is supposed to be good for one of my all time bogey birds in France...
