Could someone please identify the bird in my photograph please? I shall stick my neck out with my best guess and say it's a female Northern puffback. Merlin, however, seems to think it's a grey-headed bushshrike!

Unidentified lone duck in Kotu, Gambia on 1.12.23

Thank you for taking the time to assist me. I now have no doubt at all that you are bang on! It's an immature White-faced Whistling-Duck. Thanks again.

Unidentified lone duck in Kotu, Gambia on 1.12.23

A number of local bird guides had a look at this duck for me but a definitive identification was not forthcoming. The crowd that rapidly gathered suggested that it was an unusual bird for this area. It was generally thought to be a juvenile. Some suggested a garganey or a wigeon but I couldn't...

UK - Male or female Northern Wheatear?

I have a few photos where I can readily distinguish between the male and female Northern Wheatears. However, I still struggle with Spring plumage, eclipse plumage, etc. Could someone please put me out of my misery and confirm the gender of the birds in these photos? Thank you.

Mottarone, Lake Maggiore, Italy - Aug, 2019 - Tree Pipit?

Thank you. I have been having a bit of banter with my son over this one. He said and I quote "Even the experts struggle to tell them apart, you can only confidently tell them apart by call or behaviour, we once saw one with you at Loch Doon doing the stereotypical flutter vertically from the...

Mottarone, Lake Maggiore, Italy - Aug, 2019 - Tree Pipit?

These photos were taken at Mottarone, some 1491 metres above sea level. There were quite a number of black redstarts up there but I only saw the one pipit. The more I look at the photos, the more i'm convinced I've finally got a Tree Pipit. However, I'm not often right and I'm fully prepared to...

Kep, Cambodia in June, 2019 - Sunbirds

Whilst in Kep I photographed male Olive-backed Sunbirds and male Brown-throated Sunbirds. I am assuming that these are the females. Can anyone assist me in confirming which are which?
