Snail ID please - London UK

Not an expert on snail identification but, for what it's worth, I have dozens of them in my garden. Steve

    which bird would do this?

Why would a Sparrowhawk leave the body behind....twice? Sounds more like a cat to me. Steve
  5. bristolbirder

    Why?

I was referring to Bristol. Birds also need time to get used to new feeders. Make sure the food is fresh. It can go off surprisingly quickly in warmer weather. You may find it best not to put out too much at the moment until bird numbers in your garden increase. Steve

    Why?

My feeders aren't being used at all at the moment despite being heavily used in winter. It's probably because there is an abundance of natural food about and that most birds are in their territorial breeding areas. I'm sure things will change later in the year. Steve

    garden pond

Had frog spawn in my garden pond on March 1st. Pond has frozen over a couple of times since then so not sure if it will survive. No more than 2 frogs seen at any one time when usually there are up to 20. Steve

    Hi

Hi kalena and welcome. I too have M.E. (have done for the last 10 years) and, like you, rely on the birds in my garden to keep me going and entertained. Enjoy your time here. Steve

    Do Squirrels eat birds eggs?

I'm sure they do sometimes but would like to point out that I have numerous species nesting in my garden every year along with daily squirrel visits and have never known one nest or fledgling to be attacked. Just to keep things in perspective. Steve

    song thrush influx?? UK

Definitely an influx here. In my small garden have had 3 Song Thrush plus 3 each of Redwing and Fieldfare and up to 6 Blackbirds. Also had up to 20 Chaffinch and a couple of Blackcaps so a good birding winter for me. Steve

    Schwegler Boxes ?

Yeah, I got one of those. Used successfully by Blue Tits last year. It replaced an old wooden one which had had limited success. Very pleased with it. Steve
