The RSPB / BOU produces an A6 Field / Checklist book for about £1. You can get it on line or at an RSPB reserve.

Can you make a Squirrel Baffle?

This was suggested by another forum member - use two metal hanging baskets (as per attached pic). I have used this in the past to stop larger birds eating all the food and it works well.

    eBird Help

My usual method of birding is to record what I have seen on my phone and then enter that information onto a spreadsheet when I get home. I do not record the time, date or location, just the species I have seen. I have just created an account with eBird and I do not know if (or how) I can add...

    Mrs wants some bins

My wife wanted an inexpensive pair and we went to an RSPB reserve where she could try some binoculars. She opted for the Puffin range which she loves. Give them a go, if your wife does not like any binoculars, at least you have both had a good day out.

RSPB Puffin 8x32 binoculars any good?

I wanted to buy an inexpensive pair for my wife and decided on the Puffins. We visited an RSPB site where she tried them to see if they were suitable. She was very happy with them and they are a good pair of binoculars for a beginner. Visit your RSPB reserve and give them a try.

    woodpigeons help!!!!

I had the same problem with pigeons, jackdaws and crows. Within 30 minutes of me refilling the feeders, it was all gone. I solved the problem by following another members suggestion (pic attached) of placing "cages" (2 hanging basket frames) around the feeders. This allowed the smaller birds...
