    Birding Nice France

Haven't done much birding in southern France, but did go with my niece to Nice. It was nice but could have been nicer. The Var estuary is probably the nice- sorry, best birding spot locally. Has a variety of wetland birds et...

Swedish Lapland - where should I go?

The Rymdcampus a few kilometres east of Kiruna along the E10 had in the past (still?) some feeders which attract most of the species mentioned, plus a chance of Pine Grosbeak. Otherwise, look for feeders in any village as these will likely attract birds. Also, worth thinking of other recording...

    Timelapse camera recommendations?

That is good to know, thanks. It is quite a wide panoramic view but I wouldn't mind if it doesn't capture it all. Yes, an example would be good to see, thanks.

    Timelapse camera recommendations?

Thank you for the replies. Sorry, should have added that the reason I am looking for the camera is to capture a timelapse of my garden rather than wildlife. I had so far only searched for dedicated timelapse cameras and hadn't considered a cheap compact camera, so that is a good suggestion...

    Timelapse camera recommendations?

I was wondering if anyone in the camera/photography forum has any recommendations for a timelapse camera? Budget would be around £300 max, but anything cheaper would be great. Doesn't have to have amazing specs (1024 would be fine) and ideally be able to cover 1-2 days worth of footage. I have...

    Tarsiger website

Thanks Phil. Not on either of those so good to see the 'brand'/team is still active in some way. I am assuming there was no mention of any website changes on either?

    Tarsiger website

Does anyone know what has happened to Tarsiger? Having had a look in the last week it is no longer listed on (insert your search engine of choice). It had the most comprehensive online database of WP rarities and as such it would a shame to lose access to such a resource.

    Why no birds in Japan?

Quite the zombie thread - 15 years!

Have we reached Peak World Birding?

Wow! The hypocrisy in this post is something else. Encouraging destruction of natural habitats for the extremely selfish activity of world listing? And with no responsibility taken for the ultimate extinction of the species you are viewing?

    Birding European Cities - May-June 2019

Seriously? Why would you drive from Barcelona?? If you are staying in centre of Barcelona, simply take the AVE is 85 minutes from Sants to Zaragoza - just a single stop! From there it is 45 minutes drive to Planeron for Sandgrouse and larks. Easily doable in a day. Really frustrating to see...

Recent records of Golden/Lady Amherst's pheasant in the UK?

Lady Amherst's Pheasant: Gone since May 2016. Golden Pheasant: Last sighting at Wolferton, Norfolk in April 2017 so likely gone from there. One site in Suffolk still has a very few birds, but there are few hybrids around from what I have heard so probably not that tickable.

    Birding in Brunei

This paragraph is quite funny if you replace the word liberals with unicorns or terrifying if you replace it with an ethnic group... sad!

    Birding European Cities - May-June 2019

Having visited almost all of the cities mentioned in the opening post by public transport in the last few years, all of that itineray is doable by public transport. Arranging guided day trips (e.g. the Hortobagy) would also be pretty straightforward and I am sure the guides will have their own...

    Birding European Cities - May-June 2019

Looking at this from a full trip perspective, the following day trips at each city would get a fairly decent European list. -Dublin: Full day along the coast for seabirds that would be unlikely elsewhere, including Gannet, Shag and auks. -London: Tricky. My personal choice to maximise list...

    Birding European Cities - May-June 2019

Regarding Dublin by public transport, the easiest way to get around is using the local Metro system (known as the DART) which runs every 10-15 minutes along the Dublin coast through the day. There is an e-ticket system called Leap which is quite useful if switching between DART and Dublin Bus...
