    hi ed,if truth be known the vertical brushstrokes are the from the gesso layers applied to the mdf board.i need to sand down more carefully between coats really ,at the moment i'm only sanding the top coat which leaves the brushstrokes still visible.

    havn't been on here for a while as ive been busy setting up exhibitions and creating pieces for various shows but this is my latest oil painting in progress.a study of avocets as observed at my local nature reserve Titchfield haven in hampshire earlier this year.all that remains for me to do...

    calling the Barn owl painting complete as i dont think i can do much more to it without ruining my work so far

    started with adding details now and trying hard not to get too carried away with them as i dont think its entirely necessary(as well as being toooo tricky).ive still a little way to go and have been glazing some of the feathers to try and keep it subtle.i hope to have this finished up very soon.
