    Crocodiles in trees

During a fairly recent earthquake in Costa Rica at Playa Carrillo, the land 'heaved' 1 mt. and those mangroves are now 'high and dry', and to my knowledge no one has seen our Cayman friends since.

    Costa Rican snake

Thanks. I will contact those in Grecia....although, not our 'immediate neighbor'. Our English mastiff was bitten by an unknown snake a month ago, on his neck, which result in temporarily paralyzing his tongue. It wasn't an immediately apparent, so at first he was off his food for a couple of...

    Costa Rican snake

Thanks. Yes, some sort of parrot snake is what I thought, but I was hoping to find out which type. I saw a photo on line of a Bronzeback parrot snake, but it wasn't the same. Here are two more photos, that for some reason I couldn't add last time.

    Costa Rican snake

We live in the interior of Guanacaste and found this one as it was trying to go into an outdoor sink then rapidly moved into a covered water container.

    New to hummingbirds, have questions.

I suggest you visit this site www.network54.com/Forum/439743/ for great information on plants to attract hummingbirds to your area. There is also a 'discussion' going on right now, regarding 'what makes a hummingbird habitat' started by a member in Florida. Nancy Newfield, who often responds on...

    Gift of an unknown plant

I was given this plant when we relocated just down the road, a few months ago. I was told it was common, but I have never seen it anywhere else. We are in the Guanacaste interior. I do not think it is "Asystasia gangetica variegata" or "Asystasia gangetica variegated" or as is shown/ID'ed on...

    Costa Rica jewels

Luckily the dog is a very loving English mastiff.... At least when the Ruby-throats arrive, they won't make nests. They should arrive approx 27th Oct. Photo taken through the window while at the computer, this afternoon with a Cinnamon still taking hair...

    Feeders from the recycle pile.

Some good ideas...but I'll stick to flowers, I think!

    The Rubies are back!

So they are on their way to 'our place'! Unfortunately, we have moved, although 15 Klm down the road, so I won't 'see my returnee's', but I know others do frequent the garden we are in.

    Mason Jar Feeder

So now as well as filling feeders we have to knit 'sweaters' for them... :)

    Costa Rica jewels

Glad you enjoyed our chosen country! I am sitting here, at the computer, while it's raining and watching a cinnamon hummer take some dog hair for nesting materials.
