Ordered 10x42 Conquest HD (Again)
I compared my 8x32 Conquest HDs to almost all other contemporary alpha class 8x32's. Were there some differences? Yes but not enough for me to upgrade. Matter of fact, not even close to get just a few percentage points of improvement (chromatic aberration, color clarity, etc.) -

Customer service with many high end brands seems to have taken a back seat to marketing since covid. In some cases, before covid. One pays so much more for optics with very small differences over middle level brands. I'm sort of glad I'm aging out of all the nonsense with a number of good... -

Hint: some people go on ignore quickly like the guy from ND did some years ago. It's a good strategy to make this place more pleasant and useful. -

The 8x32s are a wonder. I had the 8x42s and the eyecups were miserable for proper eye placement even after Zeiss sent replacements of a newer version. Maybe the 10x42s are better. A shame you have to sell better bins off and go backwards a step. IMO, you buy what you can afford to KEEP. -

Choosing 8x32 vs 7x42 vs 8x25
The least satisfying binoculars I've tried in the past few years were the Leica 8x32 Ultravid and 7x35 Trinovid. Both were stunningly beautiful to look at. Not so much to look through. I documented my experience with them here and why I returned them very quickly. I don't recall too many of... -

Terra HD 10x42s...You Know These Actually Are Pretty Good
I'm not quite the optical critic that some here are but I bought an early first gen pair of the 8x42's from a member here years ago for about $200. I keep them in my rig so I always have a pair if I forget to bring one of my preferred bins. Other than a slightly yellow color cast, I find them... -

Who is still viewing through Victory HT 42s?
I don't collect either and I'm not on the hunt for the next best thing. Of the bins I have, the 8x42 HTs and 8x32 Conquest HDs are the two rest of my life bins. Some of the others are pretty good too but this pair is a do it all for my needs. The HTs are phenomenal for astronomy. -

Zeiss T*FL 8x32 v Zeiss Conquest 8x32 - discuss!
I think I've tried most of the better 8x32s from Leica, Zeiss, Swaro during the time I've owned my 8x32 HD Conquests. All were returned in favor of keeping the Conquests. Not that a couple weren't equal or better, just that the price difference and my more casual use of optics didn't justify... -

I have owned mine since they were released 8x42, not a fan of 10x. Best I've ever owned or used. I also have the 8x32 Conquest HD which are as good an 8x32 I've used. My binocular journey ended with these two. All the rest of what comes from the community is noise to me, hence why I rarely... -

Is there a psychological joy to owning alphas?
I rarely stop by here any longer. Once I got my 8x42 HTs, I realized I would never need anything more. The optical debates here are beyond a bit crazy and too many brands have too many issues. I had a terrible experience with a couple Leica alphas a year or so ago and couldn't get them packed...
