    Olu Deniz, Turkey

I have also been to Olu Deniz and I too found it virtually birdless! There were a few jays knocking about and red-rumped swallows nesting in the town but I saw far more when out on trips. TBH it was way too hot to go walking!

    Wales Info Needed

There are always queues Mari but if you get there around 9am you will get an one of the boats. In 2007 I spent a week out there as a volunteer, they were running 3 boats a day back then and I assume it's still the same. I think the island may be closed on Mondays and check the weather forecast...

Id Help Needed Costa Rica near Arenal Volcano

Cheers both, thank you very much. I now realise my mistake, I meant to type Green Honeycreeper not Green Sunbird, however it is obviously a Bananquit, a species which I already have experience of and I should have known better. Ah well I put it down to the excitement of being in a new country...

Id Help Needed Costa Rica near Arenal Volcano

I have just returned from an amazing holiday in Costa Rica and while sorting through my photographs I came across this image which I think is a green sunbird but I am not entirely sure. Can anyone confirm or correct my id please.

    Hispaniolan hummingbirds

I have been lucky enough to visit the Dom. Rep. and I too saw Vervain and Mango hummers in the hotel grounds, my favourite bird though was the Hispaniolan Lizard Cuckoo which frequented the island of the hotels swimming pools providing amazing views without bins.

    British birds of prey

I stayed at Aviemore a few years back and I watched Ospreys every evening from the back garden.

    Limavady, Co. Derry, Ireland

The tail looks very long for common buzzard, unless it's the angle making it look longer.

What are the best conditions for birding?

I just think you revisited the site too late in the day. Your first visit was in the evening when birds are busy feeding for the night ahead. Your second visit was late morning, most birds are very active at first light and for an hour or so afterwards. As for waders, I would visit when the tide...

Are you sure you can see Wales from Ireland? I can't see Ireland from Strumble Head even with a telescope.

    UK Tit..

I was at Minsmere this time last year and I was told by one of the wardens that they had no Willow Tits and that the Marsh Tits can often be seen at the feeders next to the cafe and that's exactly where I saw one.
